The Nagaland Education Project - The Lighthouse (NECTAR) is developing a Teacher Attendance Monitoring System (TAMS) as part of the World Bank supported "Nagaland: Enhancing Classroom Teaching and Resources (NECTAR)" Project. The purpose of TAMS is to provide all the schools, teachers, and school leaders in Nagaland with the necessary software and hardware tools in order to report daily employee attendance in a reliable and timely manner. For this purpose, TAMS will specifically employ the facial recognition technology for person identification, along with location and time stamping. As part of the NECTAR project’s governance reforms, TAMS is being initiated by the NECTAR project and driven by the Department of School Education to guarantee optimum classroom teaching and transactions by ensuring the attendance and presences of teachers in their respective schools/classrooms. This attendance application is being introduced to also tackle the issue of proxy teachers and absenteeism.
In this regard, a pilot exercise will be conducted for all government schools under Viswema block, Kohima at SDO (Civil) Jakhama office, comprising of 25 schools from 3rd May - 6th May 2023 to verify all the employees’ data and register authenticated employees via a robust process. All teachers and employees have been informed to come with their original appointment order along with one photocopy, Aadhar card, one recent passport photo, the ID card issued by SAMAGRA and the latest transfer/posting order.
The schedule for the verification and authentication is listed below:
