World Veterinary Day was celebrated on 24th April, 2021 across all the districts of the State, with the theme “Veterinarian response to the Covid-19 crisis”. The occasion was organized by Nagaland Veterinarian’s Association (NVA) in collaboration with State department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services.

The occasion was successfully celebrated by way of organizing awareness program, free livestock, poultry and pet vaccination, distribution of de-wormers and other activities.

 

DIMAPUR DISTRICT

Dimapur District celebrated World Veterinary Day with the farmers of Doyapur village. The Programme was chaired by Deputy Director, Vety. Hospital, Dimapur, Dr. K.N. Zubemo Humtsoe & President NVA, Dr. Nsanthung Ezung, CVO, Dimapur, gave key note address. PowerPoint presentation on activities of the Dimapur District Veterinary during the Pandemic was presented by VAS, Vety. Hospital, Dimapur, Dr. Bocto Sumi. A short speech was delivered by Doyapur Village Council Chairman.  Vote of thanks was delivered by Dy. Director, VPHC, DMC Dr. Sentiningla.

A short formal programme was followed by Livestock Mela, Farmer's Orientation, and distribution of mineral & vitamin mixture.

 

KOHIMA DISTRICT

Kohima district Celebrated World Veterinary Day at 4th NAP Batallion Thizama. After the function Anti Rabies Vaccination was held.

 

ZUNHEBOTO DISTRICT.

Along with the rest of the Country, the department A.H. & Veterinary Services, Zunheboto, celebrated World Veterinary Day on 24th April 2021 at Veterinary Hospital, Zunheboto.

The Programme was chaired by VAS (PH), Dr. Vilitoli Y. Kiba. CVO Zunheboto, Dr. Meyatoshi Aier gave the introductory note where he thanked the Pet Owners for participating and further encouraged them and spoke on the benefits of rearing pets. The NVA presidential address, on behalf of Zunheboto district, was delivered by VAS Zunheboto, Dr. Vinoto H. Ayemi. Altogether 113 dogs and 3 cats were vaccinated with Anti-Rabies Vaccine. Free distribution of de-worming tablets (Albendazole), multi-Vitamin powder etc. were distributed to around 90 pigs owners.   

 

MOKOKCHUNG DISTRICT

Mokokchung District NVA unit celebrated WVD at CTC Camous, Aolijen.  The Programme was chaired by FM, State Poultry Farm, Dr. Wapangsashi Walling. CVO Mokokchung, Dr. B.M. Sunep delivered the keynote address while short speeches were delivered by DFO, Mokokchung Dr. Sentitula IFS and Principal CTC Rev. Dr. A. Temjen Jamir. Vote of thanks delivered by FM, SCBF, Aliba, Dr. Nemjenyanger.

    

WOKHA DISTRICT

Wokha district observed World Veterinary Day 2021 at Englan village, with EAC Englang Hq Echungbemo Erui as the Guest of honour. The Programme was chaired by Dy. Director, Vety. Hospital, Wokha, Dr. Hokato Yeputho while CVO Wokha, Dr. N. Thungben Yanthan delivered the keynote address. Veterinarian response to Covid-19 crisis was delivered by Dr. Yenben Kikon.

Short speech was delivered by Echungbemo Erui. Vote of thanks delivered by DDDO Wokha, Dr. E. Mhonlumi Lotha.

The formal programme was followed by anti-rabies vaccination.

 

LONGLENG DISTRICT

 Longleng NVA Unit celebrated World Veterinary Day 2021 at Pongo village in collaboration with the Pongo Baptist Church.

A brief program on the World Veterinary Day was held in the first session which was chaired by the Pastor PBC. Dr. Aoyimsen Jamir read the message from the NVA President and expressed gratitude to the church for hosting the World Veterinary Day.

The second session was training on Economics and Management of Backyard piggery by Dr. Aoyimsen Jamir and Feed management by Dr. Lily Ngullie KVK Longleng.

The third session was on important diseases of pigs with special reference to ASF by Dr. L. Bongtok Phom and Management of Backyard poultry by Dr. Vilie Medoze.

 

TUENSANG DISTRICT

In Tuensang district, the activity was restricted due to Covid-19 restriction, however about 200 dogs were vaccinated with Anti rabies vaccine.

 

PHEK DISTRICT

At Phek, the World Veterinary Day was celebrated, by awarding paravets of the district with token of appreciation for their service, and discussion on ASF outbreak besides highlighting the theme of the day.

  

PEREN DISTRICT

Peren district observed World Veterinary Day 2021 at Ngwalwa town. Awareness program was conducted and items like hand sanitizers, face masks, vitamins, disinfectants etc. were distributed.

  

KIPHIRE DISTRICT

Kiphire district observed World Veterinary Day 2021 at District Veterinary Hospital where awareness programme was conducted and free anti-rabies vaccination were given.

 

MON DISTRICT

Mon district Unit of NVA celebrated World Veterinary Day 2021 with students of DBS, Tizit, Mon. Due to COVID-19 precautionary measures, students from class IX & X attended the celebration.
