“On the occasion of the Teachers Day Celebration 2020 I bring greetings to all the teachers of Nagaland and I take this opportunity to congratulate the State Teachers Awardees. Today for the first time after India started celebrating Teachers’ Day, the celebration is without the presence of teachers and students amidst this COVID pandemic. The celebration is also low key as we join the Nation in mourning the death of the former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee. This year the following Teachers are being awarded the State Award.

To conclude, the COVID-19 pandemic has ushered in many challenges but we must seek out opportunities to learn new things and adapt to new circumstances. It has changed the way we live, think and work; these changes are most palpable in the field of education. Education has always been at the forefront of innovation and knowledge, this pandemic has served to highlight this even more. If the spread of Covid19 virus can be stalled by the simple task of 20 seconds of hand washing and wearing masks, then we can stop the spread of ignorance by the simple task of giving our time and effort to the task of spreading knowledge to society through our schools.
