National Assessment and Accreditation Council is a Government Organisation in India that Assess and Accredit Higher Education Institutions to derive an understanding of the "Quality" status of the Institute. It is an autonomous body funded by the University Grant Commission and headquartered in Bangalore.
NAAC has played a significant role in the growth and development of Higher Education in India. Its efforts have led to the improvement of the quality of education in the country and it continues to work towards promoting excellence in Higher Education Institution.
Under NAAC purview there are 69 colleges in Nagaland viz. 15 Government and 54 Private colleges. National Assessment and Accreditation Council has accredited 35 colleges, out of which 13 are Government colleges and 22 are Private.
Remaining 34 non Accredited colleges are in the process of NAAC assessment.
