‘Viksit Bharat Yuva Samvad–Know Your Vote’ was held at North East Christian University (NECU), Dimapur, on 5th November 2026, on the theme “Know Your Vote”, under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and MY Bharat.

The Governor of Nagaland Nand Kishore Yadav attended the programme as the chief guest. In his address, the Governor emphasised the importance of informed voting, youth participation and responsible citizenship. Congratulating MY Bharat and NECU for organising the programme, the Governor said it provided a valuable platform for young people to understand their democratic rights, responsibilities and role in nation-building.

He stated that India was the world's largest democracy and that its greatest strength lay in the active participation of its citizens. Referring to the Constitution, he said it upheld the principles of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, adding that the right to vote was one of the most powerful instruments available to citizens in shaping the future of the nation.

He said voting was not merely a choice made during elections but represented a responsibility towards society and a commitment to democracy. Encouraging young citizens and future leaders to exercise their voting rights with awareness, integrity and responsibility, he particularly urged first-time voters to familiarise themselves with the electoral process and make informed decisions based on facts, knowledge and democratic values.

Speaking on the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, the Governor said the goal could not be achieved through government efforts alone, but required the active participation, creativity and dedication of the youth. He described young people as important partners in the present development of the nation and expressed confidence that the youth of Nagaland, with their talent, determination and strong community values, would contribute meaningfully towards building a developed, inclusive and prosperous India.

He also appreciated MY Bharat for creating opportunities for youth leadership, volunteering, civic engagement and community service. The Governor then congratulated Youth Icon Kepozo and athlete Liike Kibami on their achievements, stating that their journeys would inspire other young people.

Concluding his address, he reminded the young participants that their vote was their voice; awareness, their strength; and participation, the foundation of a strong democracy. He urged them to remain informed and responsible, respect the Constitution and contribute positively to society.

He once again congratulated MY Bharat, North East Christian University and all those associated with the programme and extended his best wishes to the students and young participants.

Youth icon Kepozu shared his experience of participating in the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2026, while Pencak Silat sportsperson Lilke Kibami shared her sporting journey and experiences. The Loktantrik Pledge was also administered during the programme.
