Commissioner & Secretary, School Education and SCERT, and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Observer for Zunheboto district, Asangla Imti, IAS, has called upon political parties and election officials to work in close coordination to ensure clean, accurate and error-free electoral rolls.

She made the appeal during an interactive meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Zunheboto, on October 27, 2026. The meeting was attended by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and representatives of recognised political parties in the district.

Addressing the gathering, Asangla Imti underscored the significance of the Special Intensive Revision in strengthening the integrity of the electoral process, emphasising that an accurate electoral roll is fundamental to ensuring free and fair elections. She urged political parties to actively participate in the revision exercise and work in close coordination with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to identify and rectify discrepancies in the electoral roll.

Stressing the need for cooperation and shared responsibility, the SIR Observer encouraged political parties and election officials to work constructively towards the common objective of maintaining an accurate electoral roll rather than engaging in mutual blame. She highlighted that the success of the exercise depended on effective coordination, transparency and the active involvement of all stakeholders.

During the interactive session, she sought feedback from EROs regarding objections, additions and deletions in the electoral roll and encouraged them to address all matters diligently. She also urged election officials to approach the SIR exercise not as a burden but as an important responsibility to be carried out with enthusiasm, commitment and dedication.

Further, Asangla Imti called upon AEO to provide proper guidance and support to EROs across the district to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the revision process. Encouraging officials to adopt a proactive approach, she stressed the importance of thinking beyond conventional methods and exploring practical solutions to address challenges in the preparation of a clean and comprehensive electoral roll.

In his welcome address, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Dharam Raj, IAS, welcomed the SIR Observer and highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts among election officials and political parties in ensuring the successful implementation of the revision exercise.

The meeting reaffirmed the importance of collective participation, institutional coordination and accountability in safeguarding the integrity of the electoral roll and strengthening the foundation of a credible electoral process in Zunheboto district.
