Inaugural Programme of the Longleng District Inter-Departmental Sports Meet 2026

The inaugural programme of the Longleng District Inter-Departmental Sports Meet 2026 was held on 29th October 2026 at the Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium, Longleng, under the theme of unity, teamwork, and physical well-being.

Shri W. Manpai Phom, NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, attended the programme as the Special Invitee, while Kum. Daphne Chungphang, Assistant Professor, Yingli College, Longleng, chaired the programme.

The programme commenced with an invocation by Shri Chingthai Phom, Pastor, Police Baptist Church, Longleng, followed by a welcome note delivered by Shri Thungchanbemo Tungoe, NCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Convenor, Longleng. The inaugural programme also featured a dance performance by The Chaos Crew of Yingli College, Longleng, followed by a speech from the Special Invitee, Shri W. Manpai Phom, NCS. The programme further included the oath-taking ceremony administered by Shri Kenongotto Thokhwe, District Sports Officer, Longleng.

Addressing the gathering, Shri W. Manpai Phom emphasised that the Inter-Departmental Sports Meet is not merely about competing for trophies or winning matches, but also about bringing people together, fostering mutual understanding, and promoting physical fitness and overall well-being.

He highlighted that although officials and staff members work under different departments, each department functions like an organ of the human body, with every unit playing an important role in the effective functioning of the government as a whole. He stressed that the government is not made up of only a few departments, but is a collective system in which every department contributes to achieving common goals.

He further stated that the present lifestyle, characterised by long hours of sitting in offices and limited physical activity, makes it increasingly important for everyone to prioritise health and fitness. In this regard, he encouraged the participants to make the most of the sports meet as an opportunity to engage in physical activities, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and strengthen relationships with colleagues from different departments.

He also underscored that the sports meet should serve as a platform for interaction, allowing participants to get to know one another beyond their official responsibilities and workplace settings. Such gatherings, he noted, help build camaraderie, teamwork, mutual respect, and a stronger sense of unity among government employees.

The inaugural programme marked the beginning of the Inter-Departmental Sports Meet, bringing together officials and staff from various departments in the spirit of sportsmanship, cooperation, and collective well-being. The meet aims to promote a healthy lifestyle while strengthening inter-departmental relationships and fostering unity among government employees in Longleng District.
