Nagaland Board of School Education has informed all the registered schools that the Government of India is celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence – “Azad ka Amrut Mahatsov”. The celebration will commence 75 weeks prior to the Independence Day 2022 and will extend upto Independence Day 2023. The launch of the celebration will be a 25 days event starting on 12.03.2021 (anniversary of the launch of Dandi March) and will conclude on 05.04.2021 (conclusion of Dandi March).The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi will launch the opening ceremony on the 12th March from Gujarat.

            Coinciding with the inauguration, a number of events have been planned by the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India and here in Nagaland, the schools are requested to participate in the following two events:

1. 12th March 2021 – 1 (one) hour conference/talk/seminar with students participation as speakers and presenters on ‘A talk on India’s freedom struggle’.

Schools are requested to post the video clips of the event on the social media platforms of the school by tagging the following:

2. 12.03.2021 – 12.04.2021 – Essay writing or Creative writing on any one of the following by the students:

1. Mahatma Gandhiji’s contribution to India’s freedom movement.
2. The role of Indian National Congress in the freedom movement.
3. The journey of progress since India got independence.
4. Despite being so diverse, India has managed to stay united.
5. Challenges faced by India on attaining independence in 1947.

In this connection, schools have been requested to organise the above two events for the students. By participating in these two events, students will get an idea about the challenges faced by the freedom fighters and the sacrifices made by them. In order to help the students to know more about the country’s journey to independence and how each of them can contribute to nation building, students should be encouraged to participate actively. The schools and students participation will make the difference. Knowing the past prepares one to face the future in an appropriate way.

For those participating in the Essay writing or Creative writing, the NBSE shall give Certificates to the best entries. From amongst the participants, every school must select the best entry and send it to collessay21@gmail.com, so that the Board can display it in the Board’s website. The schools have been requested to send the best entry to the Board on or before the 12th of April 2021.
