The District Health Society, Longleng officially launched National Immunization Day (NID) Polio Campaign 2026 at NST Junction, Longleng, on 28th June 2026.
The programme began with an invocation by Tenau, Associate Pastor for Youth, LTBC, who prayed for the successful implementation of the campaign.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. ImtiiungshiAier, DPO (RCH/UIP), Longleng, emphasized the importance of the National Immunization Day campaign and urged all parents and caregivers to ensure that every child below five years of age receives the two drops of Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV). He stressed that every eligible child must be vaccinated, regardless of previous immunization status, to keep the community protected from polio.
Er. Vinoh Swu, EAC HQ, Longleng, spoke on the significance of polio eradication and appealed to the public to extend their full cooperation in making the campaign a success. He emphasized that safeguarding every child through immunization is a collective responsibility and encouraged parents to ensure that no eligible child is left behind.
The National Immunization Day Polio Campaign was formally launched by Er. Vinoh Swu, EAC, Longleng, marking the commencement of the district-wide immunization drive.
On this occasion, extensive awareness activities were also carried out across Longleng District. Public awareness was created through miking in all parts of the district, while Information, Education and Communication (IEC) posters were pasted in and around Longleng town as well as in villages to inform and encourage parents and caregivers to bring all eligible children for polio vaccination. Similarly, NID Polio Sunday was observed in all the health unit under Longleng District
